CX-5 Premium Plus - get i-stop & CD or not?
My local Mazda dealer has several 2024 CX-5 Premium Plus and one 2025 CX-5 Premium Plus (more 2025 to arrive later)
While looking at the window stickers I noticed the 2024 models had no i-stop & cylinder deactivation. The listed mpg is 23/29.
The 2025 model has the i-stop and CD. The listed mpg is 26/30.
So now I have to figure out which year to buy. The 2025 gets a little better mpg, but has a more complex system.
I've been reading on the internet and watching YT videos about the i-stop & CD system. Some like it while others hate it.
I'm retired and plan on extensive travel by car. Much of that will be city driving. Maybe I should go for the i-stop & CD.
One bonus of buying the 2024 CX-5 is that the Mazda site offers 0% financing.

If you can get the car with no i-stop and no cylinder deactivation, I'd easily get that. Mazda's cylinder deactivation is very good and nothing to worry about, but you're better off without it. I can't stand i-stop, and would get really annoyed having to click the button to turn it off every time I started the car.
i was looking at this as i just picked up a 2025...i noticed that the preferred and below does not have i-stop which was one of the reasons i went with a preferred...not sure if its the same for the 2024s...i added autostop eliminator to my wife's telluride to give the "i-stop" button memory so it doesn't default on every time you start the car...they should make them all like this...every older vehicle i encounter that has this feature sounds awful restarting at stop lights
no version for mazda but maybe another company makes one...there seems to be a lot of links when you search how to disable it so you're not alone...basically you can just jam something in next to the button to keep it depressed and it disables it
