No -turbo CX-5 Cylinder Deactivation (CD)
After watching this video I am now convinced that Mazda tried to hide the CD feature of my 2019 CX-5 GT I once owned from February to September last year. I only learned about it when I received a recall notice from Mazda around May last year. The CD Status screen that you see on the above video was not on my vehicle, and, as I have mentioned in this and the CX-30 forum, the vehicle sticker of that CX-5, when I bought it did not show CD feature.
I used to be an aggressive driver but now that I’m retired and getting old, I’m changing to be a conservative driver and be easy on the gas pedal. I may change my mind on CD.
Read the first paragraph of my post. That was my issue. There’s not much gain on mpg with the CD as was an aggressive driver then. Prior to that 2019 Non-turbo CX-5, I owned a 2017 CX-5 GT. Both had basically the same mpg.
In another thread on this forum, I provided screenshots earlier from the website of Mazda USA in the time frame from 2018/2019 (these can be found on the web archives), and cylinder deactivation was clearly mentioned in the technical specs of the CX-5, i.e., nothing was hidden from the consumer.
What exactly were they hiding, and why? To what end?
In my mind as long as it isn't perceivable in operation, I have no issues with it (I certainly don't notice it in our '19 GT 2.5). I had this on my 16 RDX with the 3.5 V6 and it was terrible. I could feel when the engine went to the deactivated state which was quite annoying. If I had kept that car I would have purchased the aftermarket gizmo to disable it. If it gives me 1 MPG and I can't tell the difference - I am good with it. It seems like if you drive aggressively all the time it would never activate anyway. He had to barely press the pedal to get it to operate in the video.

So you didn't see it written anywhere, so you're upset about that? Is there any drive-ability issues?
There was an issue with CD that Mazda addressed with a recall. Since then, the OP is posting on this forum that Mazda was hiding the CD feature since it was not printed on the window sticker on the vehicle during sale. However, I provided screen shots from the web archives for the mazdausa.com website in the 2018-2019 time-frame where Mazda explicitly stated the CD feature in the technical specifications of the CX-5. Mazda was never hiding CD. Despite of this, the OP is pushing a conspiracy theory that Mazda was hiding CD
