CX-5 2016 Skyactive 2.2 diesel problems
Hi All,
I am new to the forum but have had my Mazda CX-5 for about 3 years and recently have had some serious problems with the engine. The vehicle system malfunction warning has come on the dashboard and the yellow engine warning light. I took it to a local Mazda dealer and the diagnostics show mutliple problems which seem to be common on this model of CX-5 (the early models 2014-2016) where the engine is all clogged up as the DPF has not been working properly. Basically, I have a quote for £2200 for a set of jobs but then another £400 for more diagnostics and then possibly more work needed after that so the costs are all adding up on a car which is probably worth only £4500.
Here are all the details from the diagnostics
Checked warning lights - fault codes P258B - vacuum pump opeating outsode tolerance - repairs required
1. Service repari E007 - inlet manifold, EGR valves & throttle housing has excess carbob/soot build up present - approx £2200
2.Vacuum pump required but strongly recommend fuel injectors and camcover removed to inpsect camshafts for wear & possible hydarulic lifters sticking - may require enging oil sump removal for oil pump strainer blockage if excess sludge/carbon present within camshaft area - £400 & advise cost of repair required
My question is : has anyone been able to get Mazda to help pay for what seems to be a design issue with the engine? As otherwise it is not worth getting repaired?
What have other people done in this situation, is there a cheaper solution to keep me on the road for now?
Any advise/help welcome
Thanks
Phil

I mean you could try calling Mazda Headquarters to see if they'll help, but there's no guarentees that they'll be able to help. I got fortunate that they practically covered the whole rear differential job on one of our 2021 CX-5s with just over 70k miles. It does seem that the 2.2 diesel motors tend to get clogged very easily...
