Buying a CX-5 - Best Price?
Ive made several new purchases which went into the holdback , which is generally 3-4% below invoice , not including incentives .
So if you are willing to dedicate the effort theres always a dealer that wants the unit bonus from the manufacturer and many of the larger volume dealers ( as was pointed out by another member ) will offer good discounts 24/7- Its an old myth that buying at months end gives the buyer more leverage - Well its often true as the unit bonuses are calculated on total monthly sales .
Theres a breaking point at every dealer in which say the 100th car means an extra $50 per car to the dealer ...So giving away #100 is no issue for the dealer ( these numbers are
examples only ) - I take the low hanging fruit - such as loyalty cash , or finance incentives , but after selling literally 1000s of cars - I put a hugh amonut of value in getting a pristeen unit that has no more than 2-4 miles max on it and has not been driven, as well ...Must have PDI tape intact and be taken into service while Im present to check / top of fluids , battery , tires and then into detail for plastic/ tape removal - I pay extra because , Ive seen what can happen to a vehicle which is in limbo between the factory to dealer delivery and dealer to owner sale - , Im happy to pay the salesperson msrp for the convienience of these things - It usually comes back to me in the form of parts discounts / X warranty discounts ( VSAs). Im happy , theyre happy and get great follow up in service as well - Building a good relationship with a good dealer pays dividens out over time - after all the sale is just the beginning .
