I bought a 2015 Grand Touring 2 years ago with 126k on it for 13k $ and this is what it needed right away ( I bought it knowing a list of things needed to be fixed after I thoroughly inspected it. Granted it's a near mint condition body/interior & just about no rust for a New England vehicle.
- two new front wheel bearings
- both complete front and rear strut/shocks
- both control arms /w their ball joints
- passenger side tie rod end
- valve cover gasket ( was leaking back corner )
- Transmission fluid
- front and rear PTU/Diff gear oil
Now it's getting the rear torque/motor mount and trans mount.

Most of that pretty standard stuff for New England's pothole filled roads.
Or should I say crater sized holes.

How much did you think the total of repairs cost to get the car in good condition and do you think it was worth it? I'm still considering if it's worth the repairs. I would say yes if i knew the car for sure would have no more problems but it doesn't seem the case from what i've read which is why i'm hesitant. Wish i knew more about cars and could inspect it myself and see what is actually wrong. Been driving it to work quite a bit and haven't noticed any issues even though i'm aware of the coolant leak. It's freezing here atm so not sure if that helps.

I did all the work myself so far and I think it was just under 1000$ in parts between everything. I'd guess about 3500$ or a tad more in labor for everything. I bought the cx5 knowing it had high mileage and was roughed up a bit. It had a great service record otherwise and does run/shift really good. at 126k, I suspect the suspension/wheel bearing stuff to have been worn out in our wonderful pothole roads.

I bought a used 2014 CX-5 GT with all the bells and whistles for 3500.00 as is no warranty, no nothing. It was a car from upstate NY and I bought it in NH. As the person who used to own it traded it at a Ram truck, jeeps dealership who wanted not part of it as far as going through it and fixing it up for resale. It had 235000 miles on and when they started it for me is sounded just like my 2021 CX-5 sport Awd it purred like a kitten. I took a chance and fixed all the misc. items and gave it to my kids to drive around town even with all the high mileage stuff you would expect it to have like worn out stuff etc from the chassis to the interior. Two years later with 264000 miles on it now it still runs great but it has a nagging p0420 code which wouldn't go away. Now owning this year and model I found out that they had an issue with the PCM release that would or will cause a P0420 code and the solution was to refresh the PCM code to the one in the service bulletin, which was done but I still get the code even with a o2 sensor extender on the downstream sensor. So bit the bullet and purchased a cheap catalytic converter to fix the issue whereas Mazda want close to 1100.00 for a new catalytic converter, I paid 160.00 for a new one without heat shields, cross my fingers it will fix the code issue. Anyway, my point is if you maintain your vehicle, you will / should get a long life out of it. So for $3500.00 and another $1500.00 in repairs tires brakes oil, filters, transmission fluid, tie rods, lower control arms etc... the car drives great, and I took it back from my kids so I can drive it around town now. 30k miles on it and still sounds great, It's all relative and sometimes you win sometimes you lose but I have never really lost on any of the Mazda's I have owned over the years they always were solid and dependable. 82 - 626, 94 - 626, 2008 Mazda 3, 2021 CX-5 sport a 2014 CX-5 GT, the 82 was 12 years old when that was sold, the 94 was 10 years old when I sold that one, the 2008 Mazda 3 was totaled by one of the kids no one was hurt, and still have both the CX-5 underrated cars all of them and worth every penny we paid for them. Keep it get it fixed by Mazda and maintain.

Sounds like you have great experience with your cars and also the knowledge which helps a lot. I also loved my old mazda 3 and was hoping to love my new cx-5.
I gave Mazda a call to get the part numbers that need repairing and got amazing service from them. They checked the parts and realised they were part of the warranty as the engine was only replaced months ago. They had even called the other difficult service centre and let them know about the issue and basically told them they are responsible to do the repair. I almost cried with relief that someone with the knowledge would actually do their job and help me. I called back the difficult place and was prepared to be polite as i was worried they would be rude like before but they literally didn't even let me talk, they were being nice about it saying ok that's fine bring it in, it could be we fitted it wrong or the parts are the issue etc... (which they all denied and blamed someone else when i first called)
I will be taking it in a few weeks from now and they even offered me a rental car for a week without me asking! What the hell...
Now it's a waiting game and hoping after they do some repairs, i won't be out of pocket at all or at least just a small amount. I'm really enjoying the cx-5 and pray once the coolant hose issue is fixed the car is actually fine and i can drive it for many years to come.
