Thanks so much. Haven't really kept up with technology. i usually just buy a repair manual when i buy a new or used car watch a few videoes and do repair myself. Been doing that for long time now. When i spoke to mazda about valve cleaning, They said valves needed cleaning at 24ki. They wanted 250 to spray some chemical into intake. I feel thats just a waste of money. The car is running good with a slight hesitation in cranking sometime. But it is 4.5 years old, about time to replace battery.. Thanks again.

 

Have the battery load tested asap. You are taxing your starter.

Don't feel bad if you can do the basic stuff, you are ahead of most but beyond that the internet is not your friend will often lead you in the wrong or the long way to find issues having to do with diagnostic trouble shooting. An anyone with any type of scanner when they pull the codes seldom get all the needed information and then go for the first item on the list, they think caused the DTC often times creating more issues and problems than the original unsolved problem. And then they toss in the towel and bring the car to a service shop. I get at least 1-3 of the DIY type a week that attempted to fix their car and failed. never do that No DIY can keep up and be proficient on the diagnostic skills need to DIY work on most any platforms. One would need to actually take a course in Automotive Diagnostic's which means about a month or more and also invest in the basic equipment to do the work. Even I need to refresh my knowledge every 3 years (several hundred dollars) to test and pass to retain my ASE L1 certification
