Default Massive oil leak

Friends 2005 MPV Ford 3.0 v6. 219k miles. She said was running rough. No codes.

Pulled the intake. Changed the valve cover gaskets...the back one shattered...you could hear it cracking...plugs, coils. Wiring split loom was disintegrating... replaced a lot of that. EGR looked fine but gasket was missing...red RTV for now. Replaced the PCV...hose is back ordered.

Back plugs and coils were originals. Oil all over the valve covers.

Got it all back together again...runs great...smooth.

When she pulled out there was a giant puddle of oil on my gravel driveway...it smoked bad...oil all over the exhaust on the back of the engine. First guess was the two cans of brake clean we used to clean the sticky black mess out of the intake and throttle body.

It was dark...drove it home...oil light came on...super low oil.

I had to reconnect the PCV by braille...I seriously doubt a disconnected PCV would push all the oil out...going to check that first thing.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to what to check?

Thanks!
Mac

Fixed it. The plastic box holding the wiring loom slipped under the rear valve cover...I initially saw it and pulled it out...what I missed was a chunk of the plastic wedging between the cover and head.

All of the wiring loom and plastic covers, clips, tape...all of it is disintegrating.

Thanks!

The engines are great but I'm sure the timing cover gasket and oil pan gaskets are also due. You still may have a leak after just doing the valve cover gaskets.
