Default Another head light replacement thread

Hey everyone,

My first post; we have a 2015 Mazda CX5 2.0 on petrol, it has the famous LED daylight (Daylight running lights / DLR ) problem. It has the HID light option, so the only possibility I read everywhere is to bite the bullet and go to the dealership and pay about 1300 euro's for a new headlight. Which I think is absolute insanity.
I really want to figure out what the electrical reason is these things die, and hopefully fix it it with a good old soldering iron I removed the headlight, But I can't get to the daylight unit inside, the previous garage where we bought the car, completely glued it up, there is literally glue everywhere.

So I was wondering, not to be cheap, that's only an added benefit. I never really wanted the HID lights, they are of no benefit for me and for me have no additional value (I prefer not to discuss this, this simply a personal preference, I see absolutely no difference in the dark between all the cars I have ever driven in the past 20 years or so). I also really want to replace the bulb at the side of the road which I can buy at any Petrol Station, even if it's in Italy or the South of France, where they lack Mazda Dealers and we have a language barrier. Also the prospect of replacing these lights every 4 year is one i'm very unhappy with, which i hear left and right happening from neighbours who have the same model. In all, the car is a bliss, it's my first CX5; before I had an old 2004 mazda 6 which was great to drive and maintain. And I can put 1800kg behind the hitch.

I can find the replacement Halogen Headlight unit everywhere in every part store, but not the HID lights ....

I'm perfectly happy replacing them for 2 new (regular) halogen head lights, but I cannot find anything related about the cabling, so my question is: Are these units interchangeable? Did anyone gave this a try?
What is to be expected? I totally understand the concept of removing the front grill; which I did today in about 15mins or so. I do most maintenance myself, but i'm more referring to in terms of the software that will start screaming to tell me to a garage asap....

Or, should I just order 2 headlights, try them and send them back if they don't work....?

I've added a photo with the connector.

I'm not sure if they're interchangeable, but HID headlights are usually able be replaced similiar to a halogen bulb. LED headlights on the other hand are basically not fixable and require a new headlight assembly.

Ah, right, so in this case I was in the wrongfull assumption the car has HID lights. So apparently LED lights it is. I'm still curious if the head light units are interchangable with Halogen ... I saw in the Workshop manual different cables for the HID and Halogen lights, they use the same connector, but it's different on the wiring. Now I'm wondering if Mazda uses the Halogen wiring, but has their own driver inside that handles the voltage.
