I drive pretty gentle (e.g., not speeding, no sudden brake), and I miss the smooth and firm braking when the car was new.
Not sure if 15k miles is the normal wear for '23 CX5, but I hope I can find something that last longer.
I guess 30K miles is average for brakes. My guess is your car does not need new brakes-rotors. If it does, or if you want to get new pads and, or rotors, usually it's only the front wheels that are done at 15K to 30K miles.

It is not an average not sure where you got that info. Please don’t say the internet unless you are going to give the source so we can see who the author was.
As for the rotors….thats right it is a guess on your part based on NOT having all the qualifying information to make an actual better recondition.
Have you as one example ever looked for signs of fatigue fracturing on a brake disc? Even seasoned mechanics seldom look for or know how and where to look for them . Many times a disc with them will be stated as not needing to be replaced .

At best maybe you should have said to the op to makes sure if they are not replacing the disc that they at least surface them.

At one time the brakes on the front would as a more or less un empirically based rule would be replaced more often then the rears of most vehicles, however the braking systems , brake bias and ABS systems now on many newer production vehicles those un standard rules are not really used anymore
least in service shops with more experienced employees and higher levels experienced DIY.

I wish I had bought another brand of rotors now as I have read the Mazda rotors are not great. Next time I will use something else. I just purchased rear brakes and pads (Bosch) and paid ~$100 for all of it from RockAuto as at my last service visit they said my rear rotors were in the yellow (4mm). I may try and replace them myself.

As an aside, RockAuto has a deal on the Powerstop Z23 slotted and drilled rotors right now. If you get a single set you get a $50 rebate, 110 for a full set. It makes it a really good deal. Considering buying a full set for my Frontier.
I'm almost feel out of my chair…..you might do your own service ..

Aside from that .. the Mazda rotors are equal in all aspects as standard replacement disc from better aftermarket brake manufacturers and retailers of them.
I read that BS on another forum a couple or so years ago. So I got several Mazda rotors and did some basic tests. No facts to support the claims about them . I think it really goes back to what gets mentioned on threads like this often and that is how individuals brake determines brake life.

I have a lot more information about the subjects but can’t post everything thing on one response and thread.

chickdr good wrenching to you if you do the work and if you ever have an problem while doing it PM I would be happy to help u anytime!

Couldn't agree more. Until I taught my wife proper braking skills her vehicle brakes needed replacing twice as often as mine.
I have a friend that is lucky to get 1/2 the mileage I do.
His idea of braking is waiting until the last second and then make the ABS work overtime.

Sounds like the butthead behind me this morning ....every stop light going to work MR arsewipe after I stopped would cruise up at the posted speed limit and brake at the last second. At one point I really refrained from getting out and smacking his drivers window with an open hand and give him a moment to pause and think about his poor braking habits. Luckly for me the rain started after I got here to work. I wonder who that arsewipe will re-end today? LOL
