Default 2023 CX5 Turbo - Potential Engine Leak?

Does anyone know the name of part show in the center and middle of the picture?

I noticed a new sound when pressing on gas, and opened the hood and engine cover, and saw wet spot.

I am hoping Mazda turbo engines are more reliable than others, but I just didn't know what to expect.

The mileage is at 16K.

Thanks for your help!

I believe I found the answer. The part is called oil control valve.
Found a guy who seems to have the exact same issue (same wet spot pattern)

Disappointing that is happened around 16K miles.

That is a new one for me. Have not seen one posted before. Definately a warranty issue for you.

It not common but it does happen on a few models that use the same valve cover. While it is not a defect (please some of you dont go off on the deep end and think it is) Mazda will warranty it if still under the new vehcle WARRANTY ONLY.

Mazda does not have any TSB that I can find so it is just indicating a simple leak that just happens sometimes!

If the engine had over 150k miles and some other visual indicators based on my experience I would be incline to just a compression and leak down test of the engine to see if there are excessive blowby pressure which can not only cause that valve cover seal to leak but other seals and gaskets as well as oil introduced into the intake system vis the PCV .

Check part number for specific application this is an example only:

**Valve Cover Gasket Seal L362-10-2D5A For Mazda 3 2.5

These are easily replaced and run about 20 bucks or so depending on where you buy them.

here is what it looks like removed from both sides. A typical 2.5 valve cover Skyactiv engine.

To the best of my knowledge, Mazda don't list the rubber seal for the Turbo engine. Only genuine option is to replace the whole rocker cover.

I saw that not sure why Mazda OEM parts don't list it either but I know its the same part we show servicing one in July this year.
But here is something for viewers reading....
The price of the complete valve cover with all the gaskets can be found on the internet and a DIY can easily do that with common tools is less then a shop charges for doing the work!!

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts.
I made an appointment with the dealer. Considering my '23 CX5 is only at 16K miles, I think they should be able to take care of it under warranty.
Let me keep you guys posted with the updates.
