Default 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Electrical Issue

Hello,

My son has a 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring with only 17,000 miles on it. He just made a trip from Dallas, TX to our house in Atlanta, GA (12 hour drive over 2 days). The long trip went well with no problems. When he arrived at our house yesterday, he spent 15 minutes unloading his car and then got back into his car to run to a local store. The car started OK but as he was leaving our subdivision his dash lit up like a christmas tree (no pun intended) with all the CELS lighting up stating that many things were malfunctioning. He immediately drove the car back to our house and took one of our other cars. The check engine light was on so I hooked up my OBD2 reader and Code P0847 came up which is under TSB 05-004/18 that shows Oil Pressure Switch No. 2 is stuck on. (Could be a reprogramming issue or part replacement issue which should be covered under his powertrain warranty if that is the true issue).

My concern is that most of the malfunctioning lights came on not just the check engine light for the Code I mentioned. I am now wondering if it could be a potential battery or ground issue due to the fact that multiple malfunction indicators were displayed with only the one check engine Code. That one code would not involve things like smart drive or other sensors that said they were also malfunctioning.

I am planning to take it to the dealer but also wanted to know if anyone has any other ideas as to what happened especially after a long trip and restarting the car when this all happened. Thankfully he made it to our house before this happened. The car seems to start fine from a battery standpoint and I may try to drive it to see if there will be any issues with us taking it to the dealer 20 miles away.

Any advice on what to check? I could erase the engine code and see if it reappears but I do not want to do this if the dealer needs to diagnose something. Also do you think it is OK to drive it to the dealer. If it is a battery or ground issue is there voltage I should check even though the battery seems to start the car easily? I have a multimeter to check the voltage.

Any ideas as to what may be going on and has anyone had such an issue?

Thanks in Advance.

Just an update. Started the car this morning and no malfunctioning lights except for the stored engine Code P0847 (Solid engine light). I checked the battery and it is at 12.5 volts and with the car running the alternator is pushing 14 volts which appears ok. Maybe the engine code caused the other malfunctions. At least it appears as though we can drive the car to the dealership for proper diagnosis.

Thanks

You might also try disconnecting the battery for about ten minutes and then reconnecting it. Many of these glitches are computer problems and the battery disconnect reboots the computer.

Default Same issue

Mazda dealership is offering to replace both oil pressure sensors for $1000. Has anyone here performed this at home? I see the switches are only $17 on rockauto.
