Default 2016 blown motor and now communication fault

Hello, Recently my mother blew the motor on her 2016 CX-5 due to lack of oil. she had the car towed to my house where it has sat for awhile. I put a new battery in it today so i could move the car into the garage. the car will not start and i'm getting code U0100 and U0115 communication fault with ECM\PCM. Unfortunately my data reader is cheap and i cannot try communicating with the modules individually. Is there a possible correlation between the blown motor and my communication error? I do not know where the EMC/PCM are located. Thanks-

Don't know the answer to your question but how did she lose all the oil? Was it burning oil? How many miles on it?

I'm confused. If the motor was blown due to lack of oil, how did you think that it was going to start just because you installed a new battery?

When I Googled those 2 error codes, I instantly got answers . Both of which are VERY serious .... Was this car in a accident or something ?? What was the oil change intervals like ? How often ... ?

yes burning oil, I believe under 25,000. Unfortunately she got her first oil change from Mazda and neglected to return after that. Because of that it is not covers under warranty

I have had a couple cars spin bearings before and had no problem starting and moving under their own power. The motor is not seized. I just needed to to move from the street to my garage

yes, it is a bit nerve racking. Potentially a bad ecm or damage to the com connections. Like I said above she didn’t change her oil and that is what lead to the blown motor. It’s just strange to me the communication error would appear to happen the same tone the motor went out. I’m curious if they’re related
