2010 Mazda3 not communication with OBDii scanner

MY CEL light is on in my 2010 Mazda3 and my MAC scanner will not connect. I have had no issues connecting with 50 other cars during its life...(MAC ET9620)

Anyone have this problem?

Could this be a CAN-BUS issue? Is the protocol CAN_BUS?

New Can-Bus cheapie scanner connected fine...must update software
