Hmm maybe re-rea what I posted originally. I don't read anywhere that your shop flashed the computer.

It would also seem that you had a part that was not confirmed failed or faulty replaced.

...... so here is my experience with AT light flashing on ... I am not providing a recommendation here.... just telling the story
... my wife's 2012 Mazda 3 Sport 2.0 Skyactiv
.. (early this summer) with the AT light on I took the car to my usual local shop that I use for tires and engine maintenance
... I assume they checked codes and then they reported that the transmission module required updated software and that this was a dealer only service
... they said the dealer update might solve the issue, or if not then the transmission module would need to be replaced
... had the car towed to the dealer, transmission module software updated ...... and PROBLEM SOLVED ! ... no more AT light

Exactly what I was trying to suggest. Thank you for your good information post.

I will add however that these days an Independent service shop should have at least a Pass-through diagnostic tool for flashing ECU,TCM,PCM etc. you can not survive in the service world to long without it!
We use it every week on a customers vehicle and are constantly buying new prescription from various auto manufactures to keep up on the most current flashing programs.

finally got in touch with local Mazda's head mechanic and we're finally getting some attention. Car is booked for TCM, PCM and ECU update at Mazda on Friday. He said that they can do all of the above within an hour and see where we are from there. Feel like we're finally getting somewhere. Will report once we get this done and see.

I was aware the parking switch was an issue, it happened on a few occasions that the switch would not detect that we were in park and we'd have to switch it back into gear and to park for it to turn off the car. I would have replaced it myself given you can get the switch for like $40 on Amazon.

small update. We did get the car into Mazda and got the updates done. They also wanted us to do an additional 3K worth of work to the car, and keep trying to push a cabin air filter change as one of the most important things to do.

The tranny has been updated, the solenoid has been readjusted. The car sat for several days since we REALLY needed to replace the oil pan after Mazda looked at the car (interesting coincidence). We were planning on doing it shortly, but it now leaks like a basket.

Driving the vehicle to the mechanic to have the oil pan done, the issue happened twice on the way there. We're sitting at over $1000 now and still having the issue. I will be having my usual mechanic have a look at the grounds as this is something the Mazda Mechanic did mention.

Cabin filter is easy to change. IMHO based on changing now hundreds of them in the shop they are all dirty.... LOL And if you use recirculation often ... well think about that for a moment.

As for the AT light still coming on you have some issues that may need to be looked at by a Transmission Service shop experienced in transmission diagnostic work. Most shops generally don't have the skill training or will charge hour rate just to diagnosis find what they "think" is the issue?

While you trusted service shop may be the "TO GO" to for most things if you have a report with them ask upfront if they can do it or better to go to a "TRANSMISSION SERVICE SHOP? See how they react and advise.

Here if we do a OBDII scan and look at the TCM PIDs and cannot see, hear or find a starting point for transmission related issues we send the customers car to a local Transmission shop that we work closely with and has a A 1 rating and in business serving transmission almost 40 years.

Brought my car into my mechanic(who is actually family) and he finally found the issue after he replaced the oil pan. The mazda dealership did mention to clean the area where the frame is grounded around the front bumper which they did. The car refused to stay again, he asked that I bring the other key since it was not detecting it (well the start button was blinking orange). Other jeu sous titre sans. Ran a meter to see what was happening with voltage to the transmission and first reading was 3 volts. They looked for a wiring diagram and took another reading and now it was 8 volts. Something is a miss here. They took off the ciné-club and found this. I've cleaned up the tranny works like a charm.

The one thing I have never understood is ownership of vehicles and people/customers never washing their engine compartments??? It like changing your pants but never changing your underwear at some point things will not go well for you.

I clean my engine bay when I wash my vehicles.
When I was in for service last week the service manager said "Nice, I think I could eat off your engine bay"

Ya well you my friend are the exception to the rule. I should have used the word "most" in my response. LOL

I think that many think that because the hood is seldom opened things don't get dirty?
