I got my car back this morning and everything is 100%. Car runs like new and is totally clean. I spent about 30 minutes just activating everything to make sure everything worked. No vibrations, no thunks, no clunks, no rattles, no bizarre shifts, its like new car.

I had the piston in cylinder 3 blow out in my 2.5T and it is now at the dealer. How is your car doing months later after the repair?

Just an FYI your engine and this engine have 2 completely different situations, and nothing is the same unless you want to really reach the extreme levels of comparison?

Hey Steve. I'm sorry to read your engine also failed. I had a problem with some axle seal following the replacement but they took care of that in like a day. It's been totally fine since. Mazda took responsibility for the failure and made it right. I probably wouldn't get another turbo if I had the choice as the naturally aspirated guys don't have this piston blow stuff. I don't visit here much anymore, lil too trollie for me.
Sometimes we never also find the reason for the cause of an engine failure because it can be time consuming and easier just to scrap the engine and rebuild or get a new one.
I never did find the reason that cause the piston to crack down the side? Maybe Gremlins?
Drag racing in one of my past cars at Sac Raceway missed a shift at 7000 rpm and the motor free spun to 8600 logged on the tail-tale Tack
All the intake valves end up logged in pistons head chambers and bent over and even a few valve pieces blew out the exhaust.
ops! LOL
