There's one thing I dis-like on this car is that when started the radio and or Bluetooth music comes on...
I don't want to listen to music when I start a vehicle. I want to listen to the engine...
I tried going into settings and could not find where I could change it...
What am I doing wrong???
This seems to be a thing with just about any modern car. The one thing that annoyed me about my recently departed Audi is the radio (or whatever media source was selected) would start up the moment the car was switched on. Same with the CX 30. Friends with BMWs, KIAs, Jeeps and others all report the same thing. Frustrating. So, now, my startup routine looks more like a shutdown routine: Press Start, switch off iStop, press volume button to kill radio/USB/phone music (usually accompanied by an emphatic “Shut. Up.”), drive car. I’d mind less if the gods of Mazda had, at least, including settings to disable these “convenience” features, but no. Grrr.
Most vehicle on board computers use the media for more then just musical sound reproduction.
The CAN-bus and also ECU needs the "stereo" to be activated for a few things to report through the audio components. In most of my cars I either turn the volume all the way down before shutting off the engine and if I dont want speaker sound from the media source "mute". Take all of about if humanly possible to accomplish the speed a zeptosecond of your time.
When I first installed amps and by-passed the factory amplifier the amps where run in a separate power on off switch. I soon learn that many bad things happen when the ECU freaks out because it cant make all the bell, beeps and buzzes, so I pulled the off/on switches (except for the sub woofer) and went back to ignition power activation.
Good luck and would be VERY interested if any aftermarket stereo company offered a way to shut off the radio portion of the system with out the ECU have a temper tantrum!
Hey, those zeptoseconds are important. I’ve just watched a review of the latest Audi RS6 which, I’ve learned, has a sensor on the internal door opening handle. Touch it and the door opens. No more of that exhausting pulling the door handle all the way to open your door…
Yeah, I kinda knew all that, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less frustrating. It’d still be nice if the programming allowed the sound system to power up without the radio et al firing up, too. I’m just gonna have to add this to my ever-growing list of first world problems.
I am a mechanical guy and *like my switch and gauges to play with so I guess reading this thread is more funny to me then trying to help with suggestions to solve a problem.
I fly and we do a pre flight check list .....I have often felt that getting a driver license should be more in line with getting pilots license these days because of all the driver distraction and that very few people buying new cars actually take the time to read their new cars owners manual. You can see this almost everyday on this forum alone that somebody is asking something about their MAZDA that they should have already known.
Here is my pre-flight check-list.
1. Fasten seat belt or car will beep at you until you do.
2. Push start button
3. Mute radio
4.Disengage emergency brake
5. Check surroundings
6.Put in gear and drive away
