Qi Charging Issues
Can't get my phone to charge at all. It lights up green for a couple of minutes and then overheats, indicator lights red and just stops. Phone is a Pixel 6 Pro, works on other Qi chargers faultlessly. Also does the same for wife's pixel 6 standard, but lasts a few minutes longer.

My pixel 6 also works well on the two wireless chargers I have here inside the house. Although the phone does get warm when using my chargers here at the house too.
Since, I just bought the car yesterday 04/01/2024. Idk I will ask the dealer about it. What year is yours? I'd like to know if this is something that affects models of certain years or if it's something that's been happening all along to people. I'm due to upgrade that Pixel 6 soon but if this is going to be a problem with pixels and the wireless charging I may have to consider a different brand of phone for my next upgrade. I mean it's not a deal breaker but I do feel that if it is an option that you have to pay extra to get it should work properly.
Like everything else I'm sure if it was an iPhone it would work perfectly. It always seems that's the standard that everyone uses just because it's the most common.
If I hear anything I will let you know
I know for a fact it is the charger that's in the car because it works fine in my wife's Nissan Armada. I'll have to ask the dealer about it when I take the car in for its first oil change. But it's beginning to look more and more like it's just that the charger is in the car is not that good.
I have to take my case off anyway to use that. It has a magnetic ohsnap ring on it that prevents the qi from working although it works with magsafe. I'll just use the usb-c plug-in if i ever need it. Why aren't people just plugging their phone into usb-c?
I just upgraded to a pixel 8 pro and NFC is turned off yet the charging issue is still the same as it always was. It will charge for a few minutes and then the light turns red and it quits charging. It does the same thing even if I have the settings for the wireless charger set for the lowest charge level.

Maybe if the USB C ports were on the dash I'd be more inclined to use them. But frankly having to run a cable from inside the center console or keeping my phone inside the console is a poor option considering that the vehicle is supposed to offer the option to wirelessly charge.
Don't get me wrong I like the car and the way it drives and handles. But features that don't work properly, especially those that the manufacturer knows don't work properly. Make for a poor vehicle experience. Since a search shows owners complaining about wireless charging issues going as far back as 2021, one has to wonder why Mazda hasn't fixed it? I know there's a TSB out from Mazda regarding wireless charging problems. I'm going to locate that and print it out take it with me to the dealer when I get my first oil change. Maybe they can change it out.
I got ya. Well, it's Apple and Android carplay. Not sure what Google Pixel is? My Samsung works just fine with the case off. I probably will only use it if i don't have a cord. I agree that it should work with any phone that can utilize qi charging.
Google Pixel is Android Auto. Which does work but I have never been a fan of the interface of Android auto. Just this evening I drove from my house up to pick up some dinner and bring it home so that's about an 8 Mile round trip in moderate traffic so let's say it took me 15 to 16 minutes to go there and back. By the time I got back to my house the charger was already giving me the red overheating signal. I'm probably just going to go ahead and use a cord if I need to charge until I get the vehicle in for its first scheduled service then I will have them take a look at it.
