bought an 87 b2600 4wd for 400 bucks yesterday. guy says it needs the carb replaced because he said its just dumping fuel and flooding the motor out. when i looked up fuel pumps thru carquest it showed my truck has an intake electric pump, but it also has the mechanical one on the motor as well. something seems a little strange to me as why it has 2 fuel pumps. the carb looks like it has been rebuilt at one time but i have no clue. am i correct in assuming that this truck should only have 1 fuel pump? or is this the way its supposed to be from the factory? thanks for the help.

I just recently bought a truck also. I have the same problem as far as dumping fuel in. I don't know if I have two fuel pumps. You mentioned that you figured it out on your own. what was the solution if you don't mind me asking?

 

first thing i did was pull the tank. all it had was the sending unit, so no pump in the tank. looked at the carb real good and the accelerator pump was stuck wide open just dumping fuel in the intake. ended up taking the carb off, tore it apart and it was basically junk so i just went ahead and ordered a 32/36 weber kit.
