Trouble starting from warm
Hi can anyone help me? I have a 626 99 plate 2l diesel which starts perfectly when cold. A 5 min trip to the shop and it won't start again when I return to it! Has been in a garage and no fault found on machine. Fuel filter has been changed, has recently been fully serviced, cam belt changed and have put some fuel cleaner in the tank but with no result. It will occasionally start when hot but mainly turns over on starter motor for a good minute before it will start from warm. Desperate for some advice from someone who knows what they are talking about as local garages on the Island I live on are not exactly very good!
What year 626? If its a diesel and its not restarting when warm it could be your injection pump is dying, I do not know what kind of injection system Mazda used on the 626 but I cant imagine it being very complicated, what you can try is pour COOL not cold water over the injection pump when this happens, if it starts then you need a new pump, if you use cold water you can shrink the pump housing so much it will break internal parts. When the pumps get old the internal clearances increase, its not that big of an issue when cold since the tolerances are within spec but once warm and the parts expand the pump will not work well enough to produce enough pressure. Also welcome to the forums!! If you could add your vehicle to your signature like mine below, would help us all alot
Hi,

Will add details to my profile! Thanks for suggestion!
