Mazda 323 gear ratio problem
Hi,
I have a 1999 Automatic Mazda Lantis and yesterday I have experienced a Gear problem. when hitting the gas, and the engine had gone to about ~4k RPM, the "hold" light came on, and the car shift into a limp mode, I believe it only uses the 2nd and 3rd gears.
I tried reseting the computer, It worked fine for 300 meters, then I hit the hold button - still everything was ok, push the gas a bit more to a higher RPM, and it happened again, the hold light came on and back on limp mode.
Took it to a mechanic, the car computer showed a gear ratio error (I dont know for sure, but I think it was - P0730 Incorrect Gear Ratio). the mechanic called another mechanic who's expertise is "Gear", and he sais we should try replacing the oil and all the fluids. if that doesn't work - it needs the replacement or rebuilding the whole gear system.
I would like to know, if there is a problem that wouldn't be solved by changing the fluids, couldn't be a simpler/cheaper solution???
