In the morning when i start my 2000 1.8 petrol 626 saloon , the accellerator pedal will not move. After about 40 seconds(variable ) it will free up and then i can rev up as normal, all day .Stopping for 8 hours at work does not bring the problem back. Only in the mornings !

I've inspected the cable, It's not frayed or damaged and moves quite freely in the outer shield.

I thought it was related to the engine being cold in the mornings, and indeed it's worst in winter. But now it happens most mornings even if the weather is warm......

What could be happening ? Any ideas ?
