Default How do I fit an ECU?

I have been told I need a new ECU for my 323 (year 2000) and have been quoted around £400-£600 to have it replaced! I dont have that sort of money and been advised by friends whom are more car mechanicly minded than myself to get the part from the internet and fit it ! What I need to know if any1 can help me is ; is it hard to fit and what sort of price should I be lookin to pay? I hope this will sort out my car which has been having probems starting due to registering the temperature in the system continually as being 40 degrees. Please help me !!!

It should be as simple as unplugging the old module and plugging in the new one (plus maybe a couple of bolts that secure it wherever it is mounted.)

Try and find a basic repair manual for the car and check to see if there is anything else. I'm baseing my suggestion on other vehicles I have worked on.
