Default Wiring Help 1988 323

I have a 88 323 with manual trans, I am trying to find what these wires are supposed to go to, they are in theengine compartment, they arebrown with black stripe and black. The plug is black and the wires that go to the sensor or whatever it is are both green. I unplugged the the green wires because they were cut and there is power going to them with the ignition on. They are about 12 inches below the master cylinder coming out of the wire harness. Thanks Jim

I've got the same car and the factory shop manual. If you can describe the connectors a little more, I'll try to find them in the wiring diagrams. For example, are the brown/black and black wires on one connector, are the pins male or female, are they the only pins on the connector or are there empty places where other pins could go? Also, if you could tell me where it is, that would help, too.

Jeff.

The brown/black and black wires are near the middle of the speedo cable, they about 1.5 inches long with a black connector that has female spade connectors inside, they are the only wires in the plug. Thanks Jim

The only connector I could find that looks like that is the clutch switch connector. It should be in the passenger compartment, but I guess it could have been pulled into the engine compartment. Since you said these two wires were the only ones in the connector, if this is the clutch switch connector, you don't have cruise control and there should be 2 additional places in the plug housing for2 more spade connectors. Sound right?

It looks like it belongs in the engine compartment, it is a black connector below the master brake cylinder next to the speedo cable. The 2 wires that get connected to the plug are green and about 1 foot long, there is only room in the plug for 2 wires.

I think this does to your neutral switch. This switch is on the side of the transmission near the firewall, near where the clutch cover mounts to the transmission on the passenger side of the car.

I found what I was looking for, it is near the shift linkage on the trans. Thanks for your help.
