Hi, I have a 96 Mazda 626, automatic. Yesterday, I had parked the car but the engine was still on and then i was going to drive off but when i put the car in drive, it would go straight to reverse and the car would start to reverse. I then turned off the car and then now cant get it to start because the car is still stuck on reverse. The reverse light goes on as soon as i try to start the car except the car wont start. I got it towed to the mechanic and he is saying that there is something wrong with the gear box in the transmission and i have called several auto dealers but they are saying that there is no gear box that they can order. Can anyone tell me what they think is wrong or have any suggestions? Do I have to get a new transmission?
