Smile '92 929 power steering rack outer seal leakage

According to the dates of some of these posts I do not expect to find any answers, but.......1: a CD-ROM Service Manual anywhere? Anyone heard of a procedure or tried to replace the outer left side rack & pinion seal theirselves?

1992 929 - very nice car; surprised the theme wasn't carried longer....probably due to lower fuel economy than the tin boxes we drive today (not me-I tell folks this is a Japanese Mercedes!)

That will require removal of the rack and will likely not fix it. A reman rack is the only way to go.

how bad is the leak? you can try an additive, there are several. lucas has one with pretty good reviews:

Power Steering Stop Leak

you will lose fluid as the sealant tries to work. since fluid will have to be added, go with a himileage fluid, it will also have additives that restore seals.
