1993 mazda 929 door alarm goes off
Hi,
I bought a used 1993 mazda 929 from a private owner. After I took it home I discovered that the driver's door alarmwent off 50% of the time when I opened the door with a key (the previous owner did not have the remote controll). The only way tostop the alarm from blowingis to go to the passenger side and unlock the passengerdoor. The problem is that the passenger door lock is often stuck and would take more than a minute to open, and I think it won't take long for this lock to be permanently stuck.
Is there a least costly way to fix this problem, short of selling the car? I would like to disable the alarm completely. But the mazda dealer told me that this cannot be done, as itwould interfere with the whole computer system in the car. They said that I need to buy a remote push-button door key and have it program into the car. But this would cost 300 dollars. I just don't want to have to invest more into this old car. Any suggestions? Thanks.

RE: 1993 mazda 929 door alarm goes off
Try this mazda_id and see if it will work. On the side of the hood latch mechanism is the hood switch. Should be a two wire connector with wire colors Blue w/ Red stripe and Black. Disconnect that connector and short the two wires together. This should tell the CPU that the hood is not closed and will then not complete the 'arming' process so system will never set. Sounds like you may have a failing lock/link switch in the drivers door latch assembly.
