1992 929 timing belt replacment
Have been working on replacing the timing belt on my 929. All seemed to go well, until I started it up. The engine is running fine, but it is squealing like a stuck pig!!! Any ideas as to the cause? There is an unexplainable rattle that seems to be coming from near the crankshaft, but as I say, the car runs fine. Just weird noises.
Should I just buy a pair of earplugs?

littlebillybubba. Now that is a neat name. Can you tell where the squeal noise is from ie spraying one of the drive belts with silicone spray makes is reduce or go away? Rattle from crank area could be due to belts being overtight and crankshaft is actually being pulled too hard in one direction. Try loosening them up a bit and see if that noise will stop.

also the noise you are describing sounds like what mine does still. My AC belt is too tight and when cranking it up and letting it go through the warm up phase before driving it, if the ac is on the belt squeaks, turn it off and let the car warm up first and it's fine but only after it's warm. going to try what babyhuey posted on here and see if that makes the difference on mine too. couldn't hurt.
