Mazda 323,Mazda 626 & Mazda 929Whether the compact 323, the mid sized 626, or the full sized 929, these vehicles remain very popular even though production has stopped.
I spent some time today looking thru all my reference material and all the early Mazda's made for Australia (and I would think globally) show the Diagnostic plug located at the front of the left hand strut tower. If you find the plug please post up a pic of the socket and also the labelling on the inside of the cover before proceeding with code extracting. I'll explain the reason if you do find the diagnostic socket. Right and left can get confused at times. I'm talking from where you sit in the car to your left.
I thank callisto for his reference to grammar correction. Having spent many years training migrant students from a wide range of countries some having almost no english speaking skills I develop special skills in interpretation having almost a 100% pass rate with many of those students going into the workplace now running successfull businesses so yes I appreciate your comment.

Now you just need to learn how to post on a vehicle forum? You would torn apart on most bike(motorcycle ) forums even with your own countrymen.
Honestly I use spell check but I am to fricken bust to worry about post perfection. While you are more or a less a fly-by-night member I have been active on this forum for years as well a few others. It seems most have no problem reading my responses. In fact the human brain for most intelligent individuals (speculative) automatically correct the mistakes without cause to point them out on an open forum!
But I did notice one thing since you joined you belong to the I must have the last word club , but don't take offense so do I!!
Please don't bother or try to resist responding so we can return to the topic content!
Riaan34, thank you for the great guidance! I have now searched the entire right half of the engine compartment for the Mazda Diagnostic Port [M.D.P.], even removing the air cleaner compartment, the battery base panel, and the inner plastic fender. I had considered that during the assembly process, the M.D.P. block might have never been mounted in its designated position and might be dangling in some inconspicuous cavity in the front-end. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case either. I'm not sure where I might go from here.
I am sorry to hear you have difficulty finding the diagnostic port. Extract from Mazda 323 1.6i b6 EGI manual just to confirm the procedure should you locate the port. I have used this method many times on various pre 1994 models.
Nice to read that the info provided has come from a Mazda manual and not just heresay.I have found in my reference material the same info posted by Riaan34 applying to later models and the interesting thing is they are OBD2 codes.
The big issue is locating the diagnostic socket. Theres probably a few scenarios why it's not there but without it will make it difficult. I have wiring diagrams but they may not be applicable to US market vehicles.
