Default 1989 323 alternator 89

I have a 1989 323 Sedan. Manual 5Speed Trans. With AC
Engine is 1.6L Non Turbo.

I belive the alternator died [again]. I need to have this car on the road
soon. I am going to be the one to remove it.Are there any special tricks
or techniques to be able to remove it. Are there any special torque
settings i need to know about.

Thank you to everyone in these forums. They are quite helpful.

As side note. This will be the fourth replacement alternator in
four years. Advance Auto Parts here in Upstate New York has
Limited Life Time Warrenty for that part. I only had to buy the first
one. Every one there after was considered defective every year.

Have you checked your wiring? I just replaced my 2nd alternator on my 89 Mecury Tracer (323 in disquise). The first one went at 170k, and this one went at 365k. The last time due to a short in the wiring somewhere. I have yet to find it, but you can tell it's there when the lights dim periodically. When it warms up I plan on hunting it down, but right now it eludes me. The wiring I have checked so far is getting brittle and it is probably going to ground somewhere on an intermitant basis.
