what the hell is going on with this car it will not start?????????
i have a 1994 miata auto that will not start (does crank over) i have put a new ecm and crank angle sens. there is no 5 volt reff. coming out of the ecm to the sens. and the is truning off spark and inj. pluse
I can't try to answer your question, but please limit a single question to a single thread. Double/cross posting the same thing in different sections of the forum is against the rules here, and elsewhere that I know of.
What was it that caused you to replace those two items though? You must've had someone/something suggest that they were the problem.
"no 5 volt reff. coming out of the ecm to the sens. and the is truning off spark and inj. pluse" (yr. 1st post).
"ok sorry
no spark and on inj pluse the one two thing thing the controle that" (yr. 2nd post).
Please read and correct spelling and grammar before you post.
Does your car have an anti-theft device or kill switch fitted. If these things are aftermarket retrofits, they can cause this type of problem.
Also check the engine fuses with a continuity meter (don;t trust your eyes).
The fuses are located in the engine compartment fuse box near the battery, and inside the car in a vertical fusebox on the frame just near the driver's door hinge.
Both have the fuse location, rating, and function identified on the underside of the cover.

OK. First, forget about the injectors for now, because if you have no spark, the fuel pump won't run anyway.
How is your battery? It should be giving at least 12.6V or so off load.
If your battery is weak, and/or your connections and grounds aren't clean and solid, the starter load will pull the +12V down below +11.7 at the PCM input, and this will inhibit startup. (You may have sucked the battery dry trying to start, so it would be a good idea to get it recharged while you're doing the wiring cleanup; alternatively you can get a boost start). Don't overlook the main block ground on the passenger side, sometimes located on one of the engine mounts.
Now if the engine cranks but doesn't start, you can start looking seriously at the ignition system.
Can you provide any useful prior history leading up to your problem? This might help to pinpoint the trouble.

OK so batt. is good, batt. connections & grounds good, ECM replaced, CKS replaced, and no Vref. detected from ECM to "sens." What sensor? Did you disconnect it and measure at the car wiring end? (You should see +5V +/- 0.5V). If you don't, check you have +12V and ground at the ECM input, and check you have +5V at another sensor, the TPS for example. If you don't see 5V, check out the main relay in the engine fuse box.
In prior posts, both I and Virgin 1 asked you for the history of this car and events leading up to the current problem, because troubles often result from 1 prior event and can provide vital clues.
So next, you are either going to provide what we asked for, or, so far as OLDENG is concerned anyway, you are going to be left to "fly solo" the rest of the way.

irishracer86,
I know you are new here and probably frustrated by the difficulty you are experiencing, but oldeng has a point... several actually, and has been VERY instrumental on this forum in helping others out of their automotive troubles.
He is an engineer (we have several former and current engineer members here) and knows things about design that I can only hope to. Please, if you answer his questions completely and directly, then perhaps he can help you further.
We want to help you get your trouble under control, not often an easy thing through cyberspace, but we need your input in order to help you.
Example: If you go to the doctor and he/she asks, "Have you ever had gonorrhea?" Would you answer "I had a toothache once."
