Warranty Info 2002 Protege
I have a second-hand 2002 Protege ES with about 91,000km (57,000 miles) on it. I may need to replace the EGR valve. Is this work covered by my warranty? Some people say "yes", others say "no". Also, one Mazda dealer says that if the "check Engine" light doesn't come on to indicate that the EGR is really the problem, the work is done off-warranty regardless, even if the technician is pretty sure the EGR is the problem. Does that sound right to you? If the EGR is seized up, surely it is time to replace it even if the Check Engine light never comes on?
Factory warranty would have expired at 50,000. Only things still covered would be PCM, cat converter, and restraint system parts such as seat belts, air bag, etc.
Would not matter about the CEL being on or not. If was still under warrany then the would not matter if the CEL was on. If its broken, its covered.
