MY 2003 mazda 6 just all of a sudden started making a weird noise after i cut off the engine. It sounded like a fan or maybe the engine still running really not sure what its.It may run for 30 sec or so after driving a long distance anddoes notmake the noise after just running it alittle.If anyone has an idea or opinion please let me know what is going on. thanks

 

Are you sure that it's not the engine fan running? Sure sounds like it to me..... How's the temp guage look when you're driving? When is the last time you changed your coolant? Or even checked the level. It could be nothing more than you're low on coolant and the temp sensor is triggering the fan. Same thing happened to my last Integra.

Heck, if nothing else - go for a drive - come back home - leave the car running - pop the hood -shut off the car. My guess is you'll see your radiator fan spinning away.

 

Faulty fan control modules on the V6 Mazda 6 is a very common problem. There is even a Special Service Program #60 to have this module replaced for you free of charge if you fall within the build date range. See link below.
