The temperature this morning in southern PA was 9°F / -13°C and the infotainment system in our 2016 Mazda 2 (Scion iA) was frozen. The initial picture was displayed but the menu did not appear for at least 5 minutes. I had no problem with the same system in the 2014 Mazda 3 also parked in the driveway. My daughter told me the system often crashes when it is cold. This was the first I have heard of the problem so I am not sure how often or for how long it happens.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Are there any solutions?



The second issue is the daughter that just happen to mention that the system "often crashes when it is cold" instead of reporting the problem immediately. I dread the day I am told "the check engine light has been on for weeks and the car just stopped running without warning".

 

Very common, take it to Mazda for a software update.
