Question 96 Protege cranks, but won't start.

Hey guys,

I have a 96 protege that cranks, but won't start. It will start and run for a couple seconds if I put gas in the intake manifold. The fuel pump was just replaced and is working fine. I blew out the fuel lines with compressed air, so I doubt there are any blockages in the line. The intake tube is cracked where it connects to the manifold...could that cause the MAF sensor to malfunction, preventing it from starting?
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Default

intake tube cracked = extra air not picked up by MAF depending on location.
