84 RX7 hood release

HELP! I have an 84 RX7 and have forgotten how to get the hood open. Bought the car last summer, wanted to work on it today and couldn't find the hood release.

it should be under the dash in the normal spot. but it is far back
cause i have an 1982 rx7 and it took me like 5 minutes to find it
