New member trying to find some answers. My daughters car had a rough idle for a while that I didn’t know about. Once the cel came on I went and had the code scanned and took it to a shop. They replaced coil pack on 4 and plugs on all. 40 miles or so later cel is back on but car runs fine. Took it back and had another coil pack put on. 1/2 mile later I get a cel for ion sensor. Was told that was in coil pack and the mechanic told me to take to dealer. May need a reflash or worse a new pcm. So I took it to dealer and asked for a reflash but was told that wouldn’t fix it, so 50$ later I was told I needed a new pcm. They did some key off/on cycles and determined that. So car went into limp mode a few weeks later after leaving dealer, i called them and ordered the pcm. Needles to say 1150$ later and about 45 miles driven I’m still getting the same cel and code. Any suggestions? I can’t keep throwing money in this car, I’ve owned several Mazda’s and they all been rock solid up til now….

 

I believe it’s a 3i with sky active technology. Not sure of motor size of the top of my head. Also when autozone scanned the car last night I got an email with all the info from them, the “ new “ pcm had 65k miles on it…. The car has 105k miles. I though that was odd. I’m assuming I got a refurb and I could have bought that myself was 300$ if I felt like they would have flashed it for me.
