Highway Engineer

The guy at the Mazda dealer said he had never met one of me before. Huh, I don't think I am that rare. I calculate how fast cars can drive on a road and then tell them to not go over 65 MPH. In California, highest design speed is better so most of the corners I design are more like 80-90 MPH.

There are corners here with "recomended speeds" of 30 or so that I know my car could take at 90.

You don't live in south dakota do you?

I have a friend that designs there and he made a scenic highway that has a 40 mph speed limit and he designed it for 90.

And people think engineers are boring.

(EDIT)
Some day I will learn to read and will see that you are from Atlanta. Atlanta is pretty flat that probably helps you be able to drive fast. Most of my drives are close to the speed limit. I took a 15 mph corner at 60 in my Audi and it was covered in sand... kind of made me lose my nerve for driving blind through corners faster than i should.

yeah Georgia is pretty flat but we do have a mountain called pine mountain. It has no sharp turns but a bunch of long flowing sweepers and there are no posted speed limits, a cop pulled us over (we were there for a Mazdameet so that whole group) because we were going 70, but he could'nt give us a ticket o reven a warning legally so he just kinda gave us a stern talking to. We got held up by a group of Corvettes going 30 though.

Oh my gosh there are so many ways to nullify the speed limit it is not even funny. That is one of the things I got to learn in school is when the speed limit is not legit (or if it is not legally posted) and you can get out of a ticket. Just mentioning these laws usually shuts a cop up unless you were profanely speeding.
