As for springs: I personally don't know too much about the RB's (0.6"/0.5") but they are generally considered a good company w/good-very goodproducts, but is the difference in handling and height worth it? You may feel a difference in handling (claimed +20% stiffer,) but it will be hard to see.
If you are looking for a mild drop, also look into Tein H-Techs (1.1"/0.9".) S-Techs (1.5"/1.5"?) for a more aggressive drop.
Eibach Pro (1.2"/1.2") seems to be the standard used by many. I've read these have the "closest to stock" ride, and they also make the Mazdaspeed sway bar set too, though I'm not sure who's doing their springs. It could be Eibach I suppose? Sportlines are a very aggressive drop @ 1.8"/1.8" and I'm sure you wouldn't be interested.
I have a set of German made H&R's (1.3"/1.2") that have been waiting to go in forever now, so I have no personal experience w/them as of this writing. I expect them to be on the hard side though.
Progress (1.3"/1.3") is also said to make a nice spring set for the 3.
I don't know much about these either, but there's a set Skunk2's(1.3"/1.5") for $159 on eBay right now, no shipping. Because the 3 has a pretty aggressive neg camber (especially in the rear) from the factory, consider getting a camber kit w/a drop of this much. Even on stock springs I have dialed out much of the neg camber that was there and am much happier w/my handling and tire wear now.
Deals: Sometimes, if you look regularly you can get some pretty good deals on eBay from commercial as well as private sellers. Protophile is one source to look into. Neverenough2003 is another.

At first, they were the best and quietest blades I had ever owned... and I have owned a lot of blades. Now 6 months old, they chatter incessantly on my car and my wife's Saturn.I have written Trico about it but have yet to receive an answer.
Speaking of not receiving an answer, I wrote this site about a mod position a week ago. They promise a 48 hr turnaround on requests. I have yet to hear from them too.
I told them I would be the "spelling" mod.
