Pulling a B5E engine block without a hoist by myself.
Hi all!
It's my first post here. I have a Mazda with a B5E engine (Mazda Demio 2001 1.5) and I want to pull the engine out,
to reseal it , replace the water pump, timing belt and a few more things. I also broke off the lower alternator bolt and
I want to drill it out. Anyway. I did some work in the past on this engine (water pump, timing) so I know what to expect,
though I don't have a lot of experience and never pulled an engine (but I am learning as I go).
I have a plan, but I am not sure it will work:
1. Remove the head
2. Remove the oil pen, unbolt the engine mounts, intake/exhaust, tranny etc.. (while properly supporting the engine).
3 Lift the block (after everything has been disconnected)
My question is, how much the complete block weigh? Can I lift it by myself? (I don't have a hoist).
I saw some Russian guys on YouTube doing the same:
(lifting the head)
(lifting the block)
Thanks!
(BTW: I have a workshop manual I read it carefully, and I have all the tools I need).

Thanks for the idea validation and inspiration. I had a similar but slightly more complicated idea of how to drop the sub frame/engine/transmission on my car. Guess I will be breaking out the tape measure to see if it is theoretically possible without going overboard.
