Default Reed Valves

Hello New member here.
Working on the Daughters boyfreinds B2200 have question about the reed valves. If I undue the pipes to the reed valves the truck will run .If connect the pipes back to the reed valves the truck stalls. Now I'm thinkin that there is a blockage in the exhaust that is causing to much back preasure a nd is stalling the truck out. This may sound like a stupid question as this is my first Mazda that I've worked on.

probably clogged cats. if it doesn't need to pass emissions, take it to the exhaust shop and have them get rid of the cats. if it does, get new cats.

New cats can be gotten here. They offer the best prices I have seen on direct fit converters. I used them when I had to replace the one on my wife's old Saturn, though the B series is liable to be a bit more $$$$ than that one was ($168.00.)
