could my valves be bent on my MSP
i am new at these so hopefully somebody could give me some good advice on what to do on my situation. I own a 2003.5 MSP protege 2.0L FS. a couple of weeks ago my rear engine mount busted on me and then a couple of days later the #3 engine mount broke (timing belt side) also. when #3 engine mount broke my car completely shut off on my way to work. i noticed that the alternator belt was half way off and the engine mount was totally gone. so i figure it would be an easy repair untill i started taking things apart i also noticed that the timing belt what sheddered (not broken). so i decided that the job was too advance for me to do so i took it to a local shop and i am being told that my valves are bent. i called the Mazda dealership and i was told that newer mazda's have a non-interferernce engines which means that if a timing belt was to break off it wouldn't damage the valves because there is enough clearance between the pistons and the valves. according to the mechanic he says that i have a "interference" engine and that i do have bent valves. he also mentioned that he ran a compression test and showed about 10 psi on #1 cyl. so my question to you guys is, Is my 2003 2.0L FS a interference engine or not? and could my timing belt being sheredded cause my valves to bend? any advice would be helpful. thanks

There is some info about which Mazda’s engines are interference engines and which are not in that catalogue
