Default New member needs info

Just joined and would like to get some information on RX8.
Could this car be used as a daily driver and I live in an area of WA state that has mostly 2 lane highways. I have no problem passing with my 02 4cly Camry. Have heard the the RX8 has very little torque. What does this do to the passing ability?
Thanks,
Jim in Sequim

Well Jim, that's a hard argument to deny. Rotary's are high revving power makers more than low-end grunt engines. It's a small, light weight package (the engine) that tends to make power like a V6 w/o as much torque. Once in the rev band, usually just below 2k rpm, the car will pull even and hard all the way to redline.
As far as using it as a DD is concerned, I don't know why not.
It's not the most practical of vehicles. You won't get great mileage. If you are used to 25-30mpg, you'd better get used to 18-20 w/the 8, and that's premium (91 oct.) And of course interior space isn't what it would be in a Camry either.
All depends on what you are looking for, so if I haven't turned you off completely to the idea, why not go drive one and see if the shoe fits? You will be the best judge of what you need.
