Default Mazda6S - 12,000 miles - Needs New Transmission

I took my M6 Sport Wagon in today because the transmission was clunking. It only has 12000 miles (20000 kms) on it. They called and told me the transmission needs to be completely replaced, that "something inside was broken".

Anyone else have this problem, or is likely a one-off situation?

I have an 03 M6S and at the time had 38000 miles on it. One day the car started jerking between 1st and 2nd gears so i took it into the dealer and they said i need a brand new tranny cause they stated it had (Improper Line Pressures). Cunsumers Report gave the 03 tranny a poor rating. What year is yours?

Mine is a 2006, purchased October 2005. The only thing they are telling me is that "it is giving an error code" and that "I'm lucky I didn't end up broken down on the side of the road". Huh? No kidding. It's been in the shop waiting for a transmission to be shipped and by the time it is in are ready, I will have been without it for just short of two weeks. My next thing I have to deal with is to get them to pay for the rental, which they won't commit to. I drive about 450 miles a week, so can't be without a vehicle for any length of time.

I understand that the transmissions they use to replace the broken ones are "refurbished" by the factory. So now I am concerned that I might get another dud and "end up broken down by the side of the road". I only hope the Mazda road side assistance is all that they say it is if I ever have to use it.

Hello...My Mazda 6 had 42k miles and needs a completely new transmission also. What is up with this, i have the manufactueres warranty, luckily, but it is out in another 8k miles. Does anyone have any advice on getting relief from Mazda North America? A trans out at 40K that is crazy..!

Would everyone clarify this: You have a manual or auto tranny?

I also have a 2006 Mazda6 purchased in 12/05 and has 53K miles, warrantyexpired and the transmission went out. Anyone know of any recourse I have? Seems like this is quite common after reading different comments on the internet.
