New CX-9 Owner
Hello all!
Just replacedmy 2003 Saab 9-3 Vector with a 2007 CX-9 GT AWD.
Don't leave the dome light on! I did (overhead console switch left in the "ON" position) and it killed the battery. I used the key to open the vehicle and reached to the rear driver's side door to unlock it using the inside door lock button (next mistake!). This caused the vehicle to believe it had been broken into so when I boosted it, the alarm went off (loud!!!).
I figure no big deal, I'll just unlock the door using the advanced key transmitter to kill the alarm... NOT!. OK, I'll use the manual key...NOT!. Hmmmmm... OK, I'll start the vehicle using the key.. it starts, but the alarm continues! Now I know I'll have to disconnect the battery ground to shut this thing up.. OK, this works. I then lock all the doors, reconnect the ground to the battery, boost it and then kill the alarm with the manual key on the driver's door lock. It is possible to make a vehicle too complex! I guess that's why the owner manual is so thick!
That's alot of grief for simply leaving the dome light switch on. I am surprised that a $50K (CDN) vehicle does not have a complete vehicle battery saver mode.According to the owner manual, the battery saver only functions if you leave a door open.
Other than that, the CX-9 has been fine so far. I got mud flaps, a rear cargo mat and cargo net and I'm waiting for the roof rack to come in. I have the NAV system as well (it's fairly complex!) and the MP3 input works fine (no satellite radio).
The CX-9 was the closest SUV to a Saab I could find - much better than the 9-7X and to my mind, very close to the BMW X5 only $20K less! I think the CX-9 is one of the best values out there (compared to Volvo, Mercedes, BMW).
Here's a picture of the fleet just before turning the Saab 9-3 back in...
