Default 2009 Mazda CX-7

Power steering was making noise and assumed I had a power steering pump issue. It had been serviced previously so thought I had a leak perhaps. The shop checked for leaks but just said it was low so they topped it off. When I picked the car up, it smoked profusely out of the exhaust. The mechanic was stumped also. I've done some searching and see there may be a relation with an air control valve but don't really understand the correlation. Has anyone experienced loss of power steering fluid and a related exhaust smoke when power steering reservoir was topped off?

Power Steering oil is separated from the engine or intake. Cant see a correlation.

I appreciate the feedback. I'll have to keep an eye on it and take it to dealership if it continues.
