upgrade the standard stereo?
The stereo in my 2006 Mazda 6 is ten years old. I would like to jazz it up. What would be especially popular would be to add an auxiliary port to it. Is that possible?
Here is some info on upgrading the stereo.
I have the '04, and in order to change out the strange stereo configuration, you have to remove the whole unit from the middle console. Not exactly the best design and tricky to do right. I still have the stock stereo system.

My main concern would be where to put the distal end of the cable. The video shows a place in the console. I'm thinking that would be the place to go, as it is available to both driver and passenger.
The kit in the video is pretty slick, but I don't think I would buy it. It is designed for the old IOS devices. I anticipate a range of devices. I expect to go with a cable with a routine 3.5 mm plug.
