Time to trade, sell
I have loved my 2007 Mazda 6 since I bought in December 2008 with only about 11K miles. I wanted a used Honda but they were too pricey because they hold their value so well. The car now has 128K miles and has been driven frequently on road trips from between 100 and 400 miles away from home, with fewer miles in city driving. I have had few problems but recently had to get new CV joints, which was about $800. Now two mechanics confirm what I feel happening: Motor mounts are starting to go. I just retired and want to visit my children and other bigger road trips. The mechanic said non-Mazda parts are not worth it; they won't guarantee. So I'm looking at hundreds more to spend for new parts, plus new tires. The headliner has been falling for years (i do worry about leaks) - that's 300. And will the transmission last? I've kept up oil regularly. So do I invest possibly $2K more? Will I have a car up to frequent 2-hour trips and longer? Interest rates are low, and my credit is good. I feel like I should buy even though I'm on a limited income. Advice? Recommendations? Suggestions?
