high miles on my 6
Hi there,
I just joined this forum. We're a 2-Mazda family. I drive a 2003 6s with 140K miles. My husband drives a 2006 5. I have been super pleased with my 6. I am starting to have to replace a few things but it has been a very comfortable reliable car which still feel new to me. I put on 130 miles a day commuting and I'm hoping to get another few years out of it.
It's in the shop today getting pampered (new rear brakes, fluids). I thought it needed a new fan control module (already ha it replaced wit the 2004 recall and re-checked in 2007) but the mechanic (not a dealer)says it looks fine so we'll see.
Anyone else have a high-mileage 6? Is it reasonable to expect to get 200K or more out of it?

The drivetrain in that car (either the V6 or the 4-cyl) have been around for quite some time. If you maintain it properly (which it sounds like you do) there shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't go past 200K.
My last car was a humble little '97Protege' and it lasted me nearly 230,000 miles. Towards the end of its life, it was running on basicaly three cylinders. After it died, I got a 2006 Mazda6s and I'm confident that with good maintainance, it will last for quite a long time.
If nothing else, change oil every 3k miles, and if an automatic, have the transmission power-flushed-and-refilled every 30k miles. These two things alone will help extend your car's life. Do the other regularly-scheduled services, too. Good luck,
David
