With the sport Automatic transmission, do we have to let off the gas between each gear when we are in manual mode? I have been doing that, but I was told that by my freind that the answer is no.

No you don't need to let off the throttle even if you have the pedal to the floor cause
the transmission will automatically do that for you. But letting off the gas will make the shifts smoother if you're accelerating hard.
Otherwise don't worry about it.

You shouldn't have to. You should be able to perform the shifts at wide open throttle. It still works just like an automatic, you are just telling the computer when to shift. The trans control computer should automatically calculate how firm to shift based on rpm and throttle position. Letting off the throttle like that isn't really doing anything for you except MAYBE lightening the shock to the drivetrain from shifts.
