Default Reverse sensors not working

Hi all,
Just bought a 2007 Mazda 6 GY wagon (Australian model), and the reversing sensors don't work at all, no sound at all.

Before I spend money on repairs, are there any things I can look for myself?
There's no reference in the manual to sensors, but they're there on the bumper.
I can feel one with my hand under the bumper and it seems like the wire is connected. Is there some sort of control box somewhere I can check? Fuses?

Thanks!

It may not have that option. Most manufacturers use 1 wiring harness for all vehicles of the same model to cut costs. It costs money to retool for a different harness and it costs money to make changes on the assembly line, not counting training. You could try calling a dealer and giving them the VIN, tell them you would like it fixed if it is equipped with that option and a price to add the option. Regardless, the VIN has that info if input to Mazda.

Ok, for the benefit of anyone who may be searching for the same issue.
It turns out it does have reversing/parking sensors fitted.
There's a control box in a compartment in the boot/trunk on the left side (in my model anyway). If you pull up the floor that covers the spare tire, then there's a plastic underfloor next to the spare tire. Pull that up, and there's a recess next to the wall that houses the box. It has four or five sensor wires plugged into it, and one power/loom cable that was unplugged in mine.

I think I know why the previous owners unplugged it - it is pretty erratic - there might be some minor damage to a sensor, or they need calibrating or something.
